Home Repair

Under this program we go out into the community and repair homes.  The homes are repaired for families that live in substandard housing conditions, but do not have the resources to improve the home.  The work is done by the Mission teams that come and donate their skill and time to repair these homes and better the lives of families. 8 to 10 homes are repaired per year depending on the funds; the money for this project comes from grants, local business and donations

The Home Repair Initiative utilizes the labor of persons involved in short term mission such as
VIM (http://www.umvim.org/home.htm), NOMAD (http://www.nomadsumc.org),
and various church and youth groups to carry out much needed repairs on homes in the Pharr area.  Repairs range from extensive structural repairs to minor improvements such as installing handicap ramps or handrails.
